… – showįinally a blowout bar for black women with curls & coils! I'm the type of person who likes to have all the details (location, parking, pricing, etc.) and the website provided me with all the information I needed to feel comfortable traveling to a location I have never been to. Overall, I’ll never be back or recommend. It was brief but, we shouldn’t have heard any of this as customers. He even bated the receptionist with the dreads into the conversation briefly. There was a stylist next to us, he appeared to be a manager or something but the slick comments about customers were off putting. I also did not like the energy in the space. Hunh? All these coordinated pretty bottles of products that do nothing for natural hair. Ok. It’s time for the trim, she is combing through to cut, my hair sounds brittle, I can hear it, I say It needs some kind of moisturizer, she tells me they don’t have moisture, only serum. Do you know anything about natural hair? She corrects it. Then I pay for a detangle and she starts to use a small comb and start form the roots. She was a pulling and scratching through my head as if she was in a rush, I asked her if she was. No style as I had an appointment for braids the next day.

I booked a healthy cut, deep conditioner and detangle. I get that th ey specialize in blow outs but, do you all not treat natural hair? My stylist was polite, but seemed unskilled in giving a salon experience. This is not a natural hair salon for treatments and care. But, for press and curls. The website says they do natural hair, but what it doesn’t say is that they don’t manage hair after 3C well. It reminds me of a restaurant in D.C that’s good for pictures but not food. However, the aesthetic is where they stop. I will get to that, but what I did like was the easy booking, location, parking and aesthetic. I would definitely recommend this salon for anyone on a healthy hair journey. I only hope that they can get to control the music in the space (at the old location the staff would play their music and sometimes you might hear someone sing:)), but it seems like they're on a generic playlist set by the spa. It's very upscale and the layout is a little better, and it is next to the hotel spa and they have a lot of skin and hair products. I liked their old space (especially because it was next to a Noodles & Co), and their new space while *slightly* more inconvenient for me to get to is very nice. If your hair is anything like mine and your scalp easily sweats from just walking or reverts quickly at the roots let your stylist know to go in a little harder on your roots and use extra anti-humidity spray to help the blowout last. The next day my hair looked completely crazy, but management made sure to get me back in for a redo. I only had one not great experience, and the stylist was nice but the finished look was not good. Honestly all their staff are very relaxed and sweet. I have worked wi th a couple different stylists and generally had good experiences. The color and the texture didn't match and it barely lasted a week unfortunately. Generally I can get my blowouts to last about two weeks as long as I put my hair up and use dry shampoo, but I didn't like the ponytail. I have gotten blowouts and the ponytail styling. After A LOT of trimming and treatments my hair is getting better. Luxury at an affordable price? Who wouldn't want that?
